CENTRE in Media: Radio show on children's safety online

Today's episode of the radio show ''Talasanje" was dedicated to children's safety on the Internet (on air on June 8, 2016 at 11.00 AM, Radio Belgrade 1, author: Nenad Militarevic). Jelena Sapic, CENTRE's member, discussed online risks which children and young people may encounter, together with Miljana Jovanovic (Center for Safer Internet Serbia) and Vladimir Radosavljevic (Eduko Consulting). Jelena presented the key recommendations of the CENTRE's policy brief which approached children as vulnerable group in cyber space.

The main motive to host such a discussion was the creation of pedophiles' database and commencement of enforcing Marija's Law. These two represent improtant steps in ensuring better protection of children and youth on the Internet. Although significant steps, techonology and the way we use it rapidly change. Therefore, parents face challenges not only to catch up with it, but also to stay fully informed about children's online activities. Participants of today's discussion agreed that it is necessary to continuously develop culture of dialogue concerning online activities and teach children that all the values from the offline world equally apply to the digital one.
