Final Meeting on Preparing NAP for the Implementation of UN SC Resolution 1325 in Belgrade

Final meeting within the consultative process of preparing the National Action Plan for the implementation of the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325Women, Peace and Security for the 2016-2020 period was held in the National Assembly on June 10. 175 participants took part in the meeting; among them representatives of diplomatic corps, governmental institutions, non-governmental organizations, media and members of the National Assembly. 

Prior to the final meeting in Belgrade, a series of meetings with local actors were organized across Serbia (Nis, Vranje, Novi Pazar, Krusevac, Novi Sad, Knjazevac, Arandjelovac, etc). The aim was to engage local actors and to provide coordination at various levels in order to improve the security of women. Meetings and new National Action Plan are seeking to ensure greater level of women's participation in local communities. Svetlana Djurdjevic-Lukic was a member of the Government's working group on drafting the NAP. She contributed to both local and final meetings.

As a result of the local meetings, the draft for the implementation of the UN SC Resolution 1325 was prepared and officially presented at the final meeting in Belgrade. After the presentation, the discussion was launched and participants got an opportunity to share comments and suggestions regarding the draft. Those were collected in the form of conclusions and will be utilize during the process of finalizing the National Action Plan.
