Public Policy Research Centre (CENTER) cordially invites all interesting students regardless their level of studies to sumbit papers in the field of human security. The best papers will be rewarded. 

 
In 2023. call for papers is focused on the following topics:
 
 
 
  • The prevalence of light and small-caliber weapons: Explore the issue of the spread of light and small-caliber weapons in our society and link it to cases of mass killings in Serbia. Consider possible solutions to reduce the risk and increase the safety of citizens.
  • School safety: Analyze the issue of safety in our schools, particularly focusing on incidents related to the misuse of firearms. Consider prevention measures and models to improve the safety of students, teachers, and school staff.
  • Peer violence: Investigate the phenomenon of peer violence and its impact on the safety of students. Reflect on how we can together create a safe and supportive environment for all students.
  • Gender aspect of safety: Analyze concerning statistics showing an increasing number of women killed each year in domestic and partner violence. Consider ways in which society can work on preventing this violence, especially in the context of the misuse of firearms in domestic and partner relationships.

 

 
Papers should not exceed more than 3,000 words. They should be submitted in Serbian using Latin letters.
 
 
Papers should be electronically sent at konkurs@publicpolicy.rs with a subject line reading Nagradni konkurs_Ime i prezime_Fakultet_nivo studija.
 
 
Authors of two best papers will recieve scholarships, three months and two month long respectively. Moreover, 10 papers selected by our jury will be published in a bilingual (Serbo-English) publication. A ceremony to promote best papers will be organized in Belgrade.

Svetlana Đurđević Lukić Fund: HUMAN SECURITY FOR THE NEW CENTURY

Uncertainty and vulnerability of the individual in the 21st century is the focus of CENTAR’s Human Security Programme. Building on foundations set by the recently departed co-founder and longtime director of CENTAR, Svetlana Đurđević Lukić, CENTAR regards security as a human right and advocates for construing a society in which every individual will have opportunities to reach their potential. Svetlana had a talent of pioneering the introduction of many topics – primarily concerned with the security of vulnerable groups – into security discourse within Serbia. Fostering this approach, starting from 2016, CENTAR, as part of its foundation named after the late Svetlana, holds a competition with the goal of inspiring young researchers to examine modern day threats.
