Comprehensive research on the Western Balkans Economic Integration into the EU Single Market

The project aims to revitalize EU integration in the Western Balkans by studying economic integration models in the EU Single Market for non-member countries. Due to stagnation in EU accession negotiations, trust in the process is diminishing, necessitating a stronger cooperation framework with the EU. To achieve this, a new agreement should accelerate Western Balkan accession to the EU Single Market while maintaining full EU membership as the ultimate goal, supported by comprehensive research to inform decision-makers in the region and beyond.
The project's overarching goal is to support the Western Balkan countries' integration into the EU, by providing evidence-based information to stakeholders involved in the EU integration processes. The comprehensive research methodology includes a situational analysis, a comparative assessment of legal frameworks, economic evaluations focusing on key sectors, and a geopolitical assessment of the Western Balkan context. The project, led by international experts with extensive experience, aims to influence policy makers and advocate for accelerated accession to the EU Single Market based on the analysis's recommendations.

During the project implementation, a study and a policy proposal have been published, outlining a proposal for a new approach to the relationship between the Western Balkans and the EU.
