NAP achieved good results

Dialogue of the Political Council of the Government of  Serbia with the institutional bodies and mechanisms for gender equality for the implementation of the National Action Plan  (NAP) for the implementation of Resolution 1325 of the Security Council of the United Nations - Women, Peace and Security in the Republic of Serbia (2010-2015), with representatives of civil society, academics and the media, was held on 28 May 2015 in  the „Dom vojske“.
 
Participants were welcomed by Zoran Djordjevic, president of the Political Council of the Government of Serbia for the implementation of the NAP and the Secretary of State in the Ministry of Defence. Mr Djordjevic  stressed the importance of civil society organizations underlining that  tthez are those who in 2010 has  initiated the adoption of the NAP in order to implement UNSCR 1325.
 
The first panel, which was moderated by Dr. Biljana Stojkovic, secretary of the Political Council, was dedicated to presenting the most important results of the NAP. On that subject except Mr. Djordjevic, has talked about  Tatjana Vasic, gender advisor of Minister of  Interior, Ljiljana Malušić, MP and Member of the Commission for monitoring the implementation of the NAP of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia and Maja Bjeloš  from Belgrade Centre for Security Policy.
 
The topic of the second panel, which was moderated by Dragana Petrovic, an independent expert on gender issues, was the future  implementation of Resolution 1325. About future plans spoke Suzana Paunovic, a member of the Political Council and the Director of the Office for Human and Minority Rights, Zorana  Antonijevic, OSCE Mission to Serbia ,  Laslo Cikos, member of the Political Council, State Secretary in the Minister of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs  and Vladimir Bozovic, Advisor to the President of the Government and the representative of the Serbian Government’s Coordination Body for Gender Equality.
 
The conclusions of the Dialogue were  that  NAP in the period 2010-2015 achieved good results since the the new bodies were formed  and that there are a certain quantitative and qualitative changes in the status of women. On the other hand, recommendations for the future are the introduction of an independent evaluation, creation of a new political agenda, defining new priorities and bringing the NAP at local level.
