Public debate on the National Strategy for Development of Civil Society in Serbia

Public debate on the National strategy for Enabling Environment for Development of Civil Society in Serbia 2015 – 2019, organized by the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government in cooperation with the Office for Cooperation with Civil Society, was held in Nis today. This is the third consecutive discussion on the National Strategy. The discussions were held in Belgrade and Novi Sad, too.
 
“Government should demonstrate a political will, and define its role and responsibility for the development of civil society” said Branka Andjelkovic, a lead expert and team leader of the project EU support to the Office for Cooperation with Civil Society, also one of the CENTRE’s founders.
 
Milena Banovic, from the Government’s Office for Cooperation with Civil Society, presented a process which led to creation of this strategic document to the participants. Experts, who worked on the Strategy draft, detailed the chapters’ content and the Action and Monitoring Plan. During a long and dynamic discussion, numerous participants provided useful comments and suggestions how to further the National Strategy.
 
To date, more than 300 NGOs and public administration representatives took part in the discussions on the National strategy for Enabling Environment for Development of Civil Society in Serbia 2015 – 2019.
