Report on Designing Inclusive Strategies for Sustainable Security Published
The OSCE Secretariat’s Gender Section and the Institute for Inclusive Security published a new report entitled "Designing Inclusive Strategies for Sustainable Security: Results-Oriented National Action Plans on Women, Peace and Security." The report is a product of the two day event in Vienna on preparation of National Action Plans (NAPs) related to the implementation of UN SCR 1325 on Women, Peace and Security. The event called the NAP Academy on enhancing the preparation and increasing the impact of NAPs, brought together 52 practitioners from across the OSCE region. Svetlana Djurdjevic Lukic, a former CENTRE's director, participated at the Academy. Svetlana was a member of the Working Group appointed by the Government of Serbia to prepare the second NAP for the implementation of UN SCR 1325 on Women, Peace and Security in Serbia, for the period 2016-2010. She was among three initiators of the establishment of the Women in International Security chapter in Serbia back in 2004.
This report captures lessons learned during the NAP Academy held in Vienna, Austria last September. It shares participants’ insights and guidance on how to strengthen plan design processes. It discusses the elements of a “high-impact” plan, focusing on the logic framework (logframe), and the creation of results-oriented outcomes and midterm outcomes. Based on the results of interactive exercises at the NAP Academy, it provides examples of possible plan outcomes and midterm outcomes, which are tailored to specific country contexts and priorities.
