The President of the Centre’s Assembly Svetlana Djurdjevic Lukic will participate in the Third Meeting of the Local Government’s Working Group for Roma integration, which will be held from 22nd to 24th of October, in Skoplje, within the ODIHR/ Best Practices in Roma Integration (BPRI) in the Western Balkans project and sponsored by the OSCE.

Djurdjevic Lukic will speak on the aim of the Study on the gap between policies and practice, which was supported by the BPRI project, and in which she participated as research advisor.

The Centre’s research team is very well experienced in investigating different Roma population related issues. New Centre’s research aims to answer the question how Roma people in Serbia perceive their own security and do they see any changes in security sector functioning. This research is inspired by the numerous reports that noted Roma population as the most vulnerable and most discriminated social group in Serbia, as well as by the one of previous Centre’s studies concerning the LGBT population in Serbia and their perception of security sector institutions.

Likewise, one of the most prominent Centre’s project is ’Evaluation of Efficiency of the Local Mechanisms of Social Inclusion of Roma’. This project resulted in recommendations for efficient and sustainable work of the local mechanisms for the social inclusion of Roma in the Republic of Serbia. The Centre’s research team analyzed the work of the existing mechanisms - health mediators, pedagogical assistants, Roma coordinators, advisors at the National Employment Service and the social care centers in municipalities where they all exist. The research was conducted in cooperation and with the support of Social Inclusion and Poverty Reduction Unit (SIPRU) of the Government of the Republic of Serbia.
